Seven inch records clean infinitely faster than the LPs that we’ve done at the two Brooklyn Bowl Wash-A-Thons but there are a lot of them! Bring along some rolls of paper towels and a pair of plastic gloves and let's give the wax a rubdown! Norton's seven inchers got soaked by Sandy and all the boss picture sleeves are now history. Help us dip n' dry these sevens back into action- come on over and don't forget the elbow grease! Plenty of wild 45s will be spun all night long!

Ready to tackle another load of wet wax? The fabulous Brooklyn Bowl has swung open its door and alleys for the Grand Finale Norton Records Wash-A-Thon! Last Sunday, a Norton Army assembled to wash 10,000 LP records in one eight hour marathon! Mucho thanks to the Brooklyn Bowl staff- Adam, Jessie, and the whole gang- THANK YOU ALL! Of course the rippin’, strippin’, stackin’ washin’, dryin’, sleevin’ and dryin’ was greatly accentuatin’ by the top brass DJ assemblage that kept elbows poolenty GREASY! Yes, Hurricane Sandy has precipitated a world record double barrel record washing axtravaganza that tests the mettle of our beloved vinyl format- which outlasted CD’s and tapes- and which will last us all several lifetimes.
Join us at the Brooklyn Bowl as we tackle a truckload of wet wax from the label with the able stable- New York’s own NORTON RECORDS, which was totally trashed, bashed and flooded by the wrath and fury of Sandy! Get in on it as a motherlode of the nation’s top disc jockeys blast their best, while lucky YOU joins the loud crowd lathering and buffing our Sandy-soaked footlongs back into action! Teams of clean freaks will work with record washers provided by the acclaimed Discwasher Company of Pittsburgh, while others will use the time tested soapy sponge method. Learn a trade! As you know, Hurricane Sandy destroyed the contents of the Red Hook based Norton Records warehouse, soaking everything within. NORTON RECORDS EMERGENCY UPDATE

Red Hook warehouse560
Courtesy Village Voice. Thanks to journalist Eric Davidson.
Friday, November 2
Thank you again to all the volunteers who have been helpingNorton Records recover the near total destruction of our Brooklyn warehouse at the hands of Hurricane Sandy. We have been able to salvage some stock but the job is incredibly overwhelming. We will need able hands to help with the salvage effort here at Norton HQ in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. This is an indoor job, pulling records out of wet boxes, etc. If anyone has a vehicle of any sort to assist in getting wet boxes from the Red Hook warehouse to HQ in Prospect Heights, please call. No reception in Red Hook. Email is best bet atnortonrec@aol.com. Billy’s cell (917) 671-7185 and the office landline (718) 789-4438 are the best bet for phone. Don’t leave a message. Call back til you get one of us. Messages are full.
Please do not respond with questions on facebook – we will not be following threads, but please repost if you can. We can use any help offered. We will give you the address.
Norton asked for help through the weekend but we actually will continue to need any help that we can get throughout the upcoming week. We are working from 11AM until 11PM every day. Anything that you can do to pitch in would be most appreciated. The folks who have helped so far have been simply incredible. Friends, neighbors, Norton artists and complete strangers – we thank you all for the work, the food and snacks you brought and the much needed support you’ve all shown through this ordeal.
WE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON YOU IF YOU DON'T GIVE UP ON NORTON. THAT'S A PROMISE.
We have gotten messages from people who live too far to get here. Thank you. If you are in our hurricane area, please direct your efforts to helping those who you can reach. Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey, Staten Island, the entire East Coast needs a neighborhood effort.

Norton Artists!

We are heartbroken to report all of this destruction to you. We will do everything in our power to get your records back into print as soon as humanly possible. Please believe in us 'cause we sure do believe in you as musicians, friends and superstars!

Norton Presents DADDY LONG LEGS

(Norton 382 LP/CD)  Here comes the long awaited debut platter from Brooklyn’s most blues wailing stompers Daddy Long Legs! Trust us – there’s no Fedora hat, third rate wanky, watered down Chicago blues in these grooves! For fans of Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Little Walter, Flamin Groovies, Kid Thomas and Dr. Feelgood! A dozen pounding workouts -- Death Train Blues / I Feel So Electric / Happy Home / Shackin' Up / You'll Be Mine / Witch Hunt / Trouble (Always Come My Ways) / Sittin' Shotgun / Comin' After Me / Candy Sue / Thirty Days / Evil Eye

Dig it on fabulous footlong LP and pocket size compact disc, too!

DADDYLONG LEGS, the rock n' blues group, derives its moniker from its harmonica-blastin’ frontman.

Daddy Long Legs, the aforementioned wailer, is joined by slide-guitar  driving Murat Aktürk (born in Ankara, Turkey) and legendary NYC trap master Josh Styles, who attacks his kit with a whip and a maraca, although not necessarily in that order.

The  trio has taken the music scene by storm, with alarms sounding throughout the East Coast and reverberating across the globe, as they cut through the mediocrity, directly into the meat of real music—from the hip and to the heart.

Within a few short months, DADDY LONG LEGS has taken to stages with the likes of the Sonics, the Flamin’ Groovies, the Hoodoo Gurus, Lenny Kaye, Andy Shernoff, the Legendary Stardust Cowboy, and Question Mark And The Mysterians. They have burned down barrelhouse backrooms, afterhours nightspots, and legendary locations like the famed Friars Club, NYC.

Their rapid rise in popularity is based in their total lack of pretense-- all three young men are seriously dredged in deep blues baconfat, seasoned, seared, scored and tempered...and baptized in hotwired wine and brine.

Their first Norton single, a raw reading of the Rolling Stones Cocksucker Blues, coupled with The Under Assistant West Coast Promotional Man recorded with Andy Shernoff at the helm and at the microphone, brought them to the forefront of the local scene, even catching the ear of  Chicago R&B legend T Valentine, who promptly tapped the trio as his band both onstage and in the studio. A much-awaited combined effort, THE VAMPIRE, is due for release in November.

DADDY LONG LEGS presents here their debut full-length Norton label offering, EVIL EYE ON YOU, a showcase of the trio’s finest original proclamations, set in a sparse black and white selection that is meaty beyond definition.

DADDY LONG LEGS is currently on tour in the US, with an overseas itinerary in the works.

Keep your evil ear on DADDY LONG LEGS. Else they put the EVIL EYE ON YOU.

DADDY LONG LEGS – EVIL EYE ON YOU (Norton 382) LP/CD

Also available:
DADDY LONG LEGS – Cocksucker Blues/The Under Assistant West Coast Promotional Man (Norton 45-9663)

Stay tuned for early November release of THE VAMPIRE, the new album by Chicago legend T. Valentine with all backing from DADDY LONG LEGS -- insane and unstoppable...get ready for one heckuva blues blast breakdown!

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT... DADDY LONG LEGS

"Daddy Long Legs is a man. A tall man. A tall, well-dressed, imposing man who blows the harmonica as if breathing life and soul into Delta bluesmen long dead… DADDY LONG LEGS, a trio of characters forging rock n' roll spectacle for the eyes and ears, hearkening back to when troubadours drank moonshine and took their role as entertainers more seriously."

“a conduit for pure rock n roll”
- Red Hook Star Revue

“Hands down Daddy Long Legs is the best blues harmonica player this writer has ever seen or heard. His playing is so pummeling and soulful it just saws you in half.”
- The Deli NYC Magazine

''In addition to a deliciously unhealthy dose of harmonica, this Brooklyn trio’s electrifying backwater blues is rounded out by primal drums and guitar, which leaves room for singer Daddy Long Legs to belt out his musical sermon.''
- The Most Interesting Academy Dos Equis
