GONE MAN SQUARED by Royston Ellis KB7 First appearance of the British beat king's early works in over 50 years! Royston, who vanished from Britain in 1963, was THE Paperback Writer- as referenced by those Beatles guys. In fact, the Silver Beetles (with Stu Sutcliffe) backed Ellis and his "rocketry" in Liverpool, as did Jimmy Page, who wrote the foreword. These writings 1958-1962 fill in an unwritten chapter in British beat history. Dig it now- watch for Kicks Books news with a full-on update on our hip pocket paperbacks!

Original Flamin Groovies Cyril Jordan and George Alexander are coming to town with Chris Wilson and Victor Penalosa in tow! This Sunday night is special indeed, with the incredible Daddy Long Legs opening the show at Maxwells. First it was the Groovies playing the last days of the Fillmore West.. now they're playing the last days of its East Coast equivalent-- Maxwells! Wonder if Maxwell's boss T. Lance Abramson is going to yell at them like Bill Graham did! Show's sold out, so its captive audience will know if history really does repeat itself! Catch the Groovies at the Bowery Ballroom on Saturday night, too-- Shake Some Action, everybuddy!

BEWARE UNAUTHORIZED NORTON CD'S While we were bubbling under, we found out that almost a hundred Norton titles were being manufactured and sold on the internet as authentic Norton product. These dodgy Print-on-Demand CD's certainly appeared to be the real thing from a distance, with the same cover art, and with the Norton trademark printed on the discs and on the packaging. However, these cheap, ugly CD's had shoddy packaging, and no booklets. Some of them didn't even have track listings. All of these bogus CD's have now been erased from the internet. If anyone has purchased a Norton CD from anyone other than us on line or in person, and suspects it is one of these substandard knock-offs, please contact us right away. It is painful to lose the sales and even worse to have low class bogus crap versions of Norton releases in circulation. Kicks Books went completely underwater when Sandy hit. Three Kicks titles-- THIS PLANET IS DOOMED (Sun Ra), SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR SATAN (Nick Tosches), and PULLING A TRAIN (Harlan Ellison), as well as remaining stock of Kicks #7 (and all the original art for Kicks mags), our Eddie Rocco book, and 3/4th's of the in-house, life-long collection of paperbacks, magazines, hardcovers, original art and layouts, and fanzines -- were totalled. The three Kicks Books titles -- over 10,000 minty fresh copies-- were immersed under salt water, destroyed. As it came to pass, our printer came to the rescue to rush reprint all three titles as special second printing Hurricane Sandy Editions. We are happy to say that all six Kicks Books hip pocket paperbacks are now officially back in print.
